The
Purpose is Peace & Greater Harmony in the Community
The
Peace Conference initiative is a collaborative partnership project of
Community Progress and the Friendship Fellowship started by Michael D.
Ratner. The joint aim is to widely introduce ‘easy to apply’
peaceful participatory practices that can allow meaningful communication
between disagreeing factions, that bridge differences and bring the possibility
of peace and greater understanding as the focus of discussion. The CP
process allows for open conversations and enables all sides to have their
views heard. The aim of CP is to bring together opposing points of view
for the purpose of peace while recognizing multiple positions and sharing
perspectives. The Peace Conference initiative is a not-for-profit organization
that offers seminars and certification in alternative dispute resolution
processes and works closely with other peacemaking groups worldwide. The
Peace Conference process is designed to work in most any situation at
the community level and invites all parties to participate. Moderators
are trained to facilitate a neutral process that actively encourages an
open dialogue towards greater understanding. The peace process relies
on sincere volunteer participation. The Peace Conference process is designed
to work comfortably in most all cases, circumstances and situations. This
simple stage by step method can apply for most types of conflict no matter
how long or intense the disagreement has been. The Peace Conference process
can resolve disputes between individuals and/or groups that have multiple
issues and areas of disagreement. Various factions must want to talk and
be willing to allow the process to work freely. Participants can include
family members, neighbors, communities, businesses managers, partners
or co-workers. The Peace Conference process works equally for any group
or set of individuals willing to learn another person’s perspective
and talk differences out.
